You wanna play classic games for free?

Sure you want!
A really good source for free games is Gametap.com. They offer 40 games for free including recent games like "Tomb Raider Legend", "Colin McRae Rally 2005" and "Second Sight". And they also provide us with classic games like Metal Slug, Ghost'n'Goblins and my favorite of the past: Cannon Fodder.
Now you are curious, right? So how do you get these games?
Just download the free gametap player and start picking up your favorite games.
The whole service is based on advertisement. So while the games are loading you have to watch an ad, that's all.
So it's not completely free - but almost!

Link is back

As a proud owner of a Nintendo DS I'm very excited that Nintendo's green-tights-wearing hero is back. The latest adventure is called: The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass. The story is settled after The Wind Waker-storyline.
Link gets into trouble on a boat on the ocean and falls overboard. Of course he wakes up on a unkown island. A fairy helps him to find Tetra and of course the mystical Phantom Hourglass.

I'm really looking forward to the stylus-based controlling. You can swing Link's sword by drawing a circle on the touchpad. You speak to NPCs by touching them with the stylus. And you can leave notes on the map by writing on the touchpad.
Nintendo also added a 2-player-mode.
Yes, I will order this game right away.

Iron Man gets on the big screen!

Finally a new comic book adaptation.
The classic Marvel hero "Iron Man" stars in his own movie.

Robert Downey jr. plays Iron Man and his alter ego Tony Stark.
The story is based on the classic origin, but instead of Vietnam, Tony Stark build his first Iron Man-suit in the middle east. Later Iron Man wears the classic red and yellow design.

The first trailer on the official homepage is great. Can't wait for 2008!

Official Site.

HD-DVD or Blu-Ray or doesn't matter?

I got my personal movie collection on DVD and VHS, but what will the future bring: Blu-Ray or HD-DVD?
I don't know yet, but I'm glad that the entertainment industry doesn't know neither.
So LG just designed a player (LG BH-100) that plays Blu-Ray and HD-DVD.
I hope that the other companies will react in the same way to the "Disc-Format-Dispute". In some years I might possibly buy my movies on HD-DVD and Blu-Ray and at least 10 more types of discs, cubes or whatever else will come.
But as long as the movies are good, I don't care what type of player I need to watch them.

If there is nothing on the tube.

I found this new video streaming portal called Joox. It's almost like Youtube, but the clips have no 10-minute-length-regulation and the quality is much better. You can also watch the videos on full-screen.

The collection of clips includes old movies, old TV shows and many music videos. I really like to watch old episodes of Futurama and the first season of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles from the 90s.
And there is so much more...c'mon find out for yourselve at joox.net!

Ready for "The Boys" ?

Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson, two names every comic fan should know.
The writer of the great "Preacher" series and the artist of Warren Ellis' "Transmetropolitan" teamed up and created a new comic book series called "The Boys".

Alan Moore once asked the question: "Who watches the Watchmen?". And now Garth Ennis answers with "The Boys".

A secret CIA-sponsored group of not-so-normal people take care of the superhuman-threat. Butcher, Wee-Hugie, The Female, Mother's Milk and The Frenchman are "The Boys". They live in a world, were 200,000 super-powered humans are unleashed. The job is simple: Give the superheroes a spank or, if necessary, end their career - forever!

Garth Ennis gives us what we expect: violence, sex and lots of irish humor. The artwork of Darick Robertson is as brillante as his work on "Transmetropolitan".

Tradepaperback Number One "The Name Of The Game" is out now. Go and get it!

The Bald Guy plays City of Heroes/ Villains...

...so do I.

City of Heroes/ Villains is a MMPORPG.

It is about super-heroes in a big city called "Paragon City" and super-villains, who live in a district called "Rouge Isles".
I collect comics and graphic novels since many years, so this game was the perfect choise for me.

At the beginning you choose a class for your character, there are the typical classes like close combat fighter and distant shooter. Then you choose the origins of your character's super-powers, i.e. sience, mutation, magic, training or technology. After you get your first super-powers, the real fun starts: creating you appearence!

There are so many combinations that you won't find one outfit twice. You can choose between almost everything: monster heads and robot claws, cigars and bionic eyes, zombie hands and insect wings, capes and shades and masks of course!

The gaming is based on action. Most of the missions are "Kill this guy" or "Destroy that maschine".

The character development is about getting more super-powers and equip them with so-called improvements, i.e. damage +20%. There are no character points like in other MMORPGs like strength or intelligence. It's all about choosing the right power sets and right improvements. I really like the game because of it's simplicity.

The game is based on team play. Leveling up your character on your own is almost impossible, depending on the profession you chose for your char. Some of them make you a sole team play character, like healer or illusionist.
It's more fun to play in a team anyway, meaning more opponents and more action!

In espacially created "warzones" it is even possible to have Player-versus-Player fights. There heroes and villains meet each other on the battlefield.

The support from NCsoft is really good. They update the game on a regular bases. The updates are called "Issues". Right now we play Issue number 10. With every issue NCsoft brings us a new event. At the moment Paragon City and Rouge Isles are under attack of alien invaders.

Check out the City of Heroes / City of Villians homepages and maybe we will meet at the streets of Paragon City!
